So was that it? Its been a lovely sunny day, but on our 3 mile walk into Ringwood today, when you got in the shade in was a wee bit nippy!
Watched the sun set again tonight, last night was better for colours. I wonder if this is the last we will see for a while.
Emptied the cassette out today, a bit of a wiffy emptying point to say the least! It was a soak away type which wasnt soaking away!
Everything else about the site is great, I always think that a site should be judged on three things only, the CDP, the water point and the rubbish bins. Some sites go out of their way to make things good, whilst others seem to fail miserably. I really do think that both the big clubs should pull their fingers out and inspect sites more often. Ill do it if they want! For a small fee of course!
Walked 3 miles into Ringwood today, all on lanes and pavements, China enjoyed the walk, all though, "M" only told me it was 2 miles as she thought that if I knew it was 3 I wouldnt walk it. Went in to meet "M" from work, so got a lift back.
Finally got the printer software to work after down loading it from Hewlett Packard, so have now got full office facilities in the caravan.
Off back to Shaston tomorrow, have a load of books which require posting out to their new owners, so that has to be done, and then to do some listing!
We think we have got Christmas sussed out as well, we are off to "M"s Mums partners house, which is in Woodgreen, just outside of Salisbury, we think we will probably be there for a week. We have said that we would pay £4.00 pn so that we dont feel guilty about using the electric heating! Still works out cheap though so not complaining.
New Year we are planning on staying at a pub we know that does camping, they do great food and will probably have a band on New Years Eve, they arent cheap to stay at, their normal price is £15.00pn and thats just for ehu, no showers etc, not that we need them. But a bit steep considering they have a captive audience, we will be spending money on their food and drink! They also do some rather special cider, which is so easy to drink, Ill have to be carefull or wont see midnight, in fact too much of it and you wont see 8.30pm!
Cant believe that its Weds tomorrow all ready! We leave here on Sat! I really dont know where the time goes, with this being our 48th night spent under a tin roof!
Pork curry tonight - oh yes! So off to enjoy!

Legs up - Legs Down!
Its been move day today! LEGS UP! left our last site after a 3 week stay, and drove 15 mins down the road to our new site for the next 5 nights.
Its been a great 3 weeks, such a lovely site, looking forward to going back there again allready! For a monster of a 28 night stay!
On to the new site - No dramas driving down but a bit tight getting in, but it opened up into a grassy paddock, with just two other vans on site. LEGS DOWN!
A view across open fields to the front and a tractor graveyard behind us! Not kidding I think there are 8 tractors in various states of decline, I will take some pictures as they look rather good in their sorry state. Just come across a pile of old wood with an old upright piano on it!
One of the barns is in such a state the only thing keeping it up I reckon is the moss!
Pictures will follow (forgot the lead didnt I)!
Met the site owners, and they let me get on and settle in.
Hooked up, filled the aqua rolls, kettle on! Its going like clock work now! Will have to do some research and see what the stats are for moving!
A good broadband signal as well, so can crack on with some work, once Ive mooched about it and got things sorted.
We used up our second bottle of 6kg propane last night, it lasted 24 days, a couple days longer than last time. So guess anything after 21 days is a bonus. Will be searching around locally to see if I can get it any cheaper than £19.00.
The weather couldnt be better, lovely blue sky, and a breeze. We have a sunroof on this caravan and its wide open. Fly screens in use, as there seems to be an abundance of flies where ever we go.
Ive found the elsan point, not the prettiest but functional and it has a water point next to it, well away from the fresh water. I just hate sites where the fresh is near the waste. This according to both the big clubs shouldnt happen, but it does, so really not sure how they get away with it!
"M" working today, lets hope she remembers to come to the new site on her way home, and not drive back to the old one on autopilot!
I didnt bother to take the clothes out of the wardrobes this time, just to see if it made any difference, I didnt notice any, so I will leave them in from now on. We did manage to get up to 50mph on a very short stretch of dual carriageway as well. We were buffetted as a large lorry went by, but that would of happened anyway.
So all in all an easy move, which could of been done in half the time, but as I was in no rush, and I didnt want to get to the new site before 12, it all worked out perfectly.
Took China out for a walk around the lanes this afternoon, being the under active dog that she is hasnt moved since we got back. Managed to crack on and gets loads of books part listed, so really happy with progress made.
Roast pork this evening! Cant wait, feel a couple of ciders coming on!!!!

Indian Summer It Is Then!
The day started off overcast and dull, but since around lunchtime its been lovely and sunny! So the weather men did get it right, just a day late!
"M" has gone off to see her kids for the day, and Ive been listing books, ready for a hopefully big sale towards the end of the week! Could certainly do with the money at the moment!
Its great having the laptop here, and being able to sit in comfort and tap keys, also seemed to wizz through the first bundle of books as well.
The dongle does however seem to drop out alot, back at Shaston, it might of done this once or twice a day, but here it seems to do it every ten mins or so, which is a tad annoying, but, we are on the edge of civilisation, so shouldnt really be a surprise that the signal is poor.
We are all packed up, cars loaded, just need to make sure that everything is secure tomorrow and we will be off. Looking forward to sussing out our new site. Only 6 days and we are back here again! The new site is supposed to close for the winter, according to the book, but it also says there is no ehu, but the site owner says there is. So will find out the true story when we arrive.
Have also signed up to twitter - our name there is caravanliving so far we have a few followers, but will try and tweet (sounds weird saying that) on a regular basis, as with the blogging we tend to write things down that we remember, but tweeting is instant, and as my memory is shocking, im sure I forget half the things that happen to us! So Tweeting seems a good idea.
Does anyone else tweet?
Now that we have the laptop, not due to go back to Shaston till Weds when I will be at Bob's tapping keys. Should make a big difference to our fuel consumption. It also means that I dont loose an hour a day travelling! More time to blog and tweet, and of course work hard!

Indian Summer - My Arse!
Our friend Julie came over to see us on friday evening, took us out for a lovely meal and then stayed over.
We went out for a meal, not sure if she thought that we could only bbq and burn sausages or not! We went out to the Kunchi Indian restaurant, which is at Woodlands at the back of Horton. Looks weird from the front as it looks as if it should be a garden nursery and not a restaurant due to all the greenhouses at the back of it!
The food on a whole was good, my pakora was a little dry to say the least. But, the meal did give me a side effect which everyone reaped the consequence! I had the most amazing and spectacular flatulence! Windows and roof vents open all night!
An enjoyable evening, all though a little strange as Julie has just split with her husband and they are both good friends of ours. It was odd seeing Julie on her own!
Julie, bless you Julie, normally comes out with a classic line, she didnt fail us. The restaurant was playing the radio, and Julie piped up that they should of been playing Oriental Music, the fact that we were in an Indian restaurant and so should of been Asian music was lost on her. Like the time she asked when we were out for a meal "Does that breaded white bait come battered"? She is brilliant, always comes out with something classic!
We made up the front bed for Julie, it was the first time that we had put it all together, and it is massive! Julie said that she hadnt slept that well in ages, so guess it was comfortable! I did take a picture of it, but I cant download any at the moment, as Ive forgotten the lead, as I am now in the possession of a laptop thanks to Uncle Bob.
Woke this morning expecting lovely sunshine, but it has been overcast all day, and a tad windy, (weather & my arse)! We managed to get the awning down successfully, however, we seemed to have made the entire population of earwigs now homeless! They must of booked a 3 week holiday in our awning! That and lady birds, the odd spider, but this time no daddy long legs, reckon we did away with all of those last week!
So we are all packed up and ready for our next adventure to our new home, 5 miles down the road.
Nothing planned for tomorrow, "M" off to see her son in his new home, and I might get some work done, as I managed to bring back with me 2 boxes of books to list on good old ebay!
The freelander is packed well, not sure yet where China is going to sit, will sort that out Monday when I leave.
Didnt manage to get the mudflaps fitted, I bought some rally spec plastic flaps to stop mud and other horrible things flicking up on to the caravan, went over a dead rabbit last time I was towing, rabbit guts is not easy to clean off! We were wondering why China was licking the caravan, until I'd realised what had happened! Still on the lookout for some large self tapping screws, Focus didnt have any last time I looked. May have to try - yep you guessed - ebay!
My 13mm tent peg screw attachement for the cordless drill has arrived so looking forward to screwing in tent pegs thus making it easier on my old knees!
Remains of the curry tonight, as Julie did insist on doggie bags for all the left overs, not sure if my digestion system can cope, so lining it with cider as we speak, in the hope that it will neutralise things, or as I suspect make things even worse. Can see me sleeping in the awning tonight, which is a problem as its packed in the Fiat!
Seems strange not having the awning, we can look out and see things, its also lighter, so much more light comes in the van now.
Isnt it getting dark earlier! It was pitch black by 7.45pm. Dark mornings heading this way soon!
Being where we are, with no light polution at all, its brilliant on a clear night to look up and see all the stars. There always seem to be so many more stars when its this dark!
No real progress on Kev in hospital, no worse, but no real progress either, he had a scan today, they get the results tomorrow! Fingers crossed that all is well.
Will write again once settled in at our new home!

Wingreen Hill
Wingreen hill has a special place in my heart as its where I learnt to ride my bike without stablilisers! Not sure if it was the gentle grassy slopes or the fact that if I fell off the sharp flint sticking out of the path was sure to cut me to ribbons made me learn all the quicker.
Anyway, the last few mornings, Ive been taking a stroll around as its on my way into Shaston, and feel that as Im passing, and China is with me, it would do us both good and to be honest the views are breathtaking!
Yesterday it poured down with rain, and we got a bit damp to say the least, but today, all though colder it was sunny.
Plenty of pheasants and partridges, all commercially bred and released ready for the shooting season.
A couple of pictures for you all.
Will have to start to think about packing up this weekend! Off on our travels on Monday morning, "M" is at work so it will be me rolling up, out, and setting back up all on my own!
At least I wont have to travel far, probably no more than 5 miles max, so not a long journey, just the far side of Ringwood, towards the New Forest. Its a working farm site. It will add another 10mins onto my journey into Shaston, but I quite enjoy the drive so no problems.
The leaves have started to turn, the horse chestnut trees are in an advance state. Wont be long now till we have our first frost. I read a couple of days ago that they have predicted a very severe winter with temperatures down to -20 and plenty of snow! Ive done -15, cold enough that if you touch metal with your bare hand it sticks to it, its not good! But its a challenge, and am looking forward to it! (weirdo)!
No news from the hospital, things much the same. Its a fine line between bringing him out of his induced coma and stabilising the swelling of the brain, its a long slow process.
"M"s eye has returned to normal - the glasses are off!
The cows in the field next to us didnt make alot of noise last night, all though "M" said she heard them, me, I was out like a light, would of taken a herd in the awning to wake me up! Im certainly sleeping alot better since we started this lark!
In Shaston all day today, managed to get here with out forgetting anything, so things are going well!
Tapping keys all day, so best get on.

Can You Keep a Secret?
Dr Heckle came across this the other day, found it rather amusing - Ok I realise its now a tourist attraction but still made me chuckle!
Check out his blog, he does have some good stuff on there!
We have some how managed to loose the key for the Fiat 500! We have searched high and low, its not as if we have a rambling mansion to go through! Luckily we have the spare, but its not really the point, and its an old fashion one where you have to actually put it into the lock to open the door instead of pressing a button!
And of course I was the last to have it, so its me whos lost it! I think Ive been loosing the plot a bit recently, it normally takes me two attempts to leave the caravan, as I always have to go back as I forgot something, this morning it was 3 goes! 1) left awning light on, 2) left dog lead behind and do you believe it, I cant remember the bloody third! Thats how bad its getting!
Is this a sign of things to come, when you cant remember what youve done or where you have been, well, it would make for a cheap day out as you could go to the same place all the time, and you would never get bored of baked beans on toast! And Im only 43 or is that 44 - see what I mean!
Dementia is a serious problem in this country, and by all accounts its going to get worse! But what does surprise me is that other countries dont seem to be as bad as we are! How does that work?

Well thats another day done, finally got the car taxed today, that was a nightmare! Sent off the log book for the change of address, took ages for it to be returned, arrived today! tax reminders are somewhere between old address and new address! So without the log book or reminders as you need the reference number you cant tax your vehicle!
Phoned Swansea, and they were as much use as a sponge cake at slimming world, they just said that we had to wait for the log book to come back! Good job I didnt get stopped, as Im sure that Officer Dibble wouldnt of been impressed with my excuse. So cheers DVLC or DVLA or what ever you call yourselves for making me sweat over the last couple of days! As its all computerised these days, I really would like to know what the hold up was!?
New waste pipe adaptor thingamejigger has arrived to day, no more fighting with an octopus!

Wet & Windy! & I Am Talking About The Weather!
Wet & Windy!
Saturday night was by far the wettest and windiest so far! Everything survived well, with no damage to the awning. About a week ago I dug out the storm straps and put them on. The awning has an abundance of pegs using the rubber ladder system.
The only thing that came loose was at the centre of the awning, at the front there is a very short extension pole which has a little spike which the edge of the awning hooks over - well that unhooked itself.
No water came in, but the wind sure did make the van move!
Sunday saw more rain, and me trying out my new boots. Now as a portly sort of chap, finding boots with a large calf is always a problem, less cider would be the obvious answer but as thats medicinal and part of my 5 a day, im not giving that up! So the hunt was on for a pair of boots. Wellies Ive found to be uncomfortable, hiking boots just dont do it as I wanted a pair to slip on and off easily without laces. So I came across these:
I gave them a good going over on Sunday, they are easy to put on and take off with a zip front and velcro top fastening, thick rubber sole, so no sharp stones can poke your feet, and they are fleeced lined, so perfect for wearing with no socks and your dressing gown when swapping over aqua-rolls!
However, as I found out when I took them for the "How deep can you go in water before they leak" test. The answer is upto the end of the rubberised bit! After that your in hot water, or in my case bloody cold water!
Overall, they are great for walking around the site, and walking China, so a good investment of £25.00 bought from the factory shop, not known for their durability of products, so we will see how they go! No more "campers toe" for me!
Rain Stopped Play - It was just to wet to go out and play conkers on Sunday. The van and awning, although large is not the ideal venue for a conker tournament! So they have now found their way to cupboards, window sills and various other places where Im sure I will tread on one in the night, to try and put off spiders!
Washing Machine
We assembled the washing machine, not alot to assemble, just plonk it on the table, fill with hot water, a bit of liquid washing powder and away you go, 15 mins later, 1 washed fleece 3 pairs of socks and some boxers! Done. Rinsed three times, put in the spinner, which I must say works extremely well, and hey presto. So for shirts and socks, its great, and we will be using it as its easy to use, and no great hassle. We reckon it will cut things down from two loads per week at the laundrette to one every 10 days. Laundrette for sheets, towels, jeans etc. All the little stuff straight in the machine!
The aqua-roll shown is our old waste one! We dont use it for drinking! Glad we kept it as it has now come in very handy!
Its not heavy on power either running only 3 amps. £62.99 from ebay - bargain! Wont take us long to get our money back on it either.
Sat out in the awning on Saturday evening and had a few drinks, china feels the cold, and this isnt us being sissy, she really does, so had to wrap her in her blanket!
Our friends Sharron and Thomas popped in on their way back down to Cornwall, after spending their weekend up in the area. Quick cup of tea and a catch up, good to see you both!
Then we headed over to Southampton Hospital to see Kev. It knocked the stuffing out of "M" seeing him like that. Not a great deal of change, the pressure on his brain has almost stabilised and his eyes do react to light, which apparently is a very good sign. Along way to go yet!
Walking into Southampton Hospital is like walking into a shopping mall! I can understand, Smiths and card shops being there, and to a point a jewellers, if you want to cheer someone up, but a clothes shop? Heres a new jumper ive just bought you, you cant wear it as your in hospital, but here you are anyway?! Oh and its either a Macdonalds or Burger King in there as well! How did the hospital trust decide that was a good idea? Its known that both these retailers have in the past contributed to the decline in peoples diet, and here they have set up shop under their noses! Next they will be opening a pub with a smoking room!
This isnt me being getting on my high horse, as I drink and eat rubbish (sometimes) (non smoker)! but what sort of an example is it to have fast food outlet such as these in a hospitals!
As I keep saying, the world is going mad! And to cap it all they charged £1.90 for an hour to park! What a bloody cheek!
We finally managed to get our sites booked up, we will be leaving our present location on the 10th October after a 3 week stay, heading over to a site just outside of Ringwood, £6.50pn including awning, dog and ehu! Bargain! Thats for 5 nights. Then back here again for a whopper of a 28 night stay, our longest yet in any one place!
Back to the tapping of keys again this week, so no let up for me, "M" busy at her work. So its all go.

Saturday night was by far the wettest and windiest so far! Everything survived well, with no damage to the awning. About a week ago I dug out the storm straps and put them on. The awning has an abundance of pegs using the rubber ladder system.
The only thing that came loose was at the centre of the awning, at the front there is a very short extension pole which has a little spike which the edge of the awning hooks over - well that unhooked itself.
No water came in, but the wind sure did make the van move!
Sunday saw more rain, and me trying out my new boots. Now as a portly sort of chap, finding boots with a large calf is always a problem, less cider would be the obvious answer but as thats medicinal and part of my 5 a day, im not giving that up! So the hunt was on for a pair of boots. Wellies Ive found to be uncomfortable, hiking boots just dont do it as I wanted a pair to slip on and off easily without laces. So I came across these:
