Driving Assessment!

I had my driving assessment on Tuesday morning. I wasn't too sure what to expect so took the view that I was under test and to make sure that I did every thing I could by the book.

This was obviously the right thing to do, and resulted in only a couple of minor faults during my 30 minute drive around.

I must admit I was a little nervous, but all in all it worked out well.

Now I'm waiting for a date for my medical and then the results from my CRB check.

Landrover Problem!

Today just as I had left our camp site I went to change through the gears and heard a clunk from the clutch pedal and a floppy pedal! Not good, so found a layby just down the road and had to pull over. My initial thought was that the clutch cable had snapped but as it is a hydraulic system this rules this out.

It could be a couple of things, either the master/slave cylinder has failed, the thrust bearing has gone, or the best and cheapest option is that the clutch pedal itself has failed!

If its anything other than the clutch pedal the car is off the road, possibly for good as at the moment funds are tight to say the least!

I wont know until we get a chance to recover the car which will be over the weekend. I've got recovery but its far easier and less time consuming to just pop down and tow it back ourselves. Its safe enough where it is, they certainly wont get far with it if they do try to nick it!

So this morning, "M" had to come back from work with the Pajero so I could then take her back again as I needed to go and tap keys 25 miles away! A bit of a hassle, but what else can we do!

These things are sent to try us, and I reckon I'm being tried to the limit at the moment!

At least we have a ray of light at the end of the tunnel, without that it certainly would be grim!

China was sleeping in luxury today! I tap keys for an antiques dealer, and as I wasn't in my normal car with China's blanket I asked Bob if he had an old blanket she could use. She does feel the cold! I can do better than that he said and produced an old fur coat! So China dog has been wrapped up snug in some old women's pride and joy all day!

Its getting late, and I've got to take "M" to work early tomorrow morning so better be off.

Till later..........

  1. Sorry to hear of your mechanical problems. As you say, we are being tested all the time. China is one lucky dog to have you folks and to be able to luxuriate in furs!
